He then sought out William Staarna and Charles Gehring's translation of the journal. O'Connor believes he ultimately grasped the "soul of the story," which is "the tale of these three young men sent into the wilderness of North America, with really no preparation or support to speak of, and how the experience transformed them." Sycamore's rich palette of browns, yellows, and purples is critical to the book's emotional resonance, and O'Connor praises her talent and her patience: "She would endure these long conversations with me, filled with many pointless diversions and trivia I had picked up, as I explained what I hoped she could accomplish with the color, and she would come back with something even better than I had envisioned.""O'Connor," says Siegel, "is a very good self-promoter. Der Autor:Fred Mortagne alias Fred French ist ein in Lyon ansässiger Fotograf, der sich in seiner Arbeit sehr intensiv mit der Skateboard-Szene beschäftigt und auch der Street-Fotografie verbunden ist. Als fotografischer Autodidakt beherrscht und verwendet er sowohl analoge als auch digitale Kameratechnik. Seine Video-Arbeiten finden große Beachtung und er konnte bereits Werbevideos für Marken wie Hermés, Converse und Nokia gestalten. Fotostrecken im Leica-Magazin zeigen sein photographisches Können. Insbesondere seine Arbeiten mit der Leica M Monochrom Digitalkamera intensivierten die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kamerahersteller und erhoben Mortagne in den Rang eines Markenbotschafters für Leica.Das Buch:„Attraper au vol“ erscheint im klassischen Hardcover-Hochformat und liegt in der Hand wie ein guter alter Schulatlas aus den Zeiten vor Google-Maps. Und so wie damals der ganze geographische Globus zwischen die beiden Buchdeckel gepresst wurde, zwängt Fred French im vorliegenden Fall die Welt des Skateboardens in sein Buch hinein. Dabei sind die Umschlagdeckel derartig massiv ausgeführt, dass man den Eindruck bekommen kann, es würden sich darauf locker zwei Pendelachsen mit Rollern befestigen lassen, um mit dem ganzen Band davonzuskaten.Das Papier ist von mattem Glanz und bringt die ausschließlich in Schwarzweiß ausgeführten Abbildungen sehr gut zur Geltung. Eine Fadenheftung in unauffälligem weiß hält die Seiten zusammen.Der Inhalt:Schon vor dem ersten Aufschlagen muss man sich intensiver als üblich mit dem Buch befassen. Der Autor leistet sich den Spaß, den Buchtitel auf der Rückseite abzudrucken. Da dies noch dazu um 90° gedreht geschieht, tappt man als Erstleser unwillkürlich in die Falle, die Rückseite als Titel zu betrachten und das Buch von hinten aufzuschlagen. Inwieweit hier Absicht dahintersteckt oder einfach der Wunsch, das Buchcover vor störendem Text zu bewahren, ist nicht überliefert.Hält man das Buch schließlich richtig in Händen, trifft man beim Blättern zunächst auf ein Vorwort des Autors und erreicht ziemlich schnell den Hauptteil, sprich die Präsentation der Fotos. Alle Fotografien stehen für sich selbst. Kein Titel, keine technischen Daten, keine Kommentare. Was gesagt werden soll, zeigt das Bild. Für alle, die mehr wissen möchten, listet ein knapper Index am Ende des Buches die Abbildungen auf und verrät Titel, Ort der Aufnahme und das Aufnahmedatum. Die Vita des Fotografen bildet den Schluss des Buches.Die Fotos sind - auch für Nicht-Skateboarder - durchweg ein Genuss. Mortagne findet Locations und Betrachtungswinkel, die seiner Schwarzweiß-Fotografie zu spektakulären Motiven verhelfen. Oftmals muss man zweimal hinschauen, um zu erkennen, was man da eigentlich vor sich hat. Und mitunter hilft erst das Entdecken des grundsätzlich mit wirbelndem Board im Flug erwischten Skaters, um Maßstäbe richtig einzuordnen sowie Licht und Schatten korrekt auf die Umgebung zu verteilen.Überhaupt das Skaten. Eingefangen von Fred French wirken die Bewegungen schwerelos und ohne jede Mühe - die natürliche Fortbewegung einer besonderen Gattung Mensch, die sich leicht gebückt, mit angezogenen Knien und wild mit den schattenwerfenden Armen rudernd durch seltsame Örtlichkeiten bewegt. Wohin und wozu auch immer.Manche Fotos sind über zwei Seiten angelegt und kämpfen mit dem Problem des tiefen Buchfalzes. Bei den meisten davon lässt sich damit leben, lediglich beim Foto des amerikanischen Skateboarders und Künstlers Ed Templeton stört die großflächige Anordnung, da ein Teil seines Körpers der Seitenmitte zum Opfer fällt. Vereinzelt mischen sich andere Motive unter die Sammlung, abstrakte Flächen, ein Flugzeug vor dunklem Grund, der erst dadurch zum Himmel wird, Menschen ohne Skateboard, Verkehrszeichen. Diese waren frei erfunden.Leonid WladimirskiLeonid Wiktorowitsch Wladimirski, geboren 1920 in Moskau, ist ein russischer Graphiker und Illustrator. Die Bücher sind wunderbar gelesen. Dank an Katharina Thalbach. Wir kennen alle Folgen auswendig. Sie verlieren nicht ihren Reiz. Ich kenne die Bücher noch aus meiner Kindheit und teile meine Begeisterung jetzt schon mit der 5. Generation.

Das Buch ist aus dem Jahr 1974, also 43 Jahre alt und in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand. Sogar der Schutzumschlag ist noch fast unbeschädigt.Ich habe die Reihe in meiner Jugend gelesen und bin jetzt wieder darauf gestoßen. Der Feuergott der Maranen ist das erste Buch, dass ich jetzt wiederentdeckt und gekauft habe. Es hat meine Erwartungen mehr als erfüllt .Danke dem Verkäufer für dieses toll erhaltene Buch.

Habe die 6 Bücher der Reihe das letzte Mal vor etwa 30 Jahren das letzte Mal in der Hand gehabt und gelesen. Und war damals schon begeistert. Die Bücher gab es auch nur sehr schwer zu kaufen... Jetzt habe ich sie wieder gefunden und sofort gekauft und verschlungen... Immer noch fasziniert mich die Reihe, da sie mich an die tollen und spannenden Lesemomente in meiner Kindheit erinnert :)Absolut empfehlenswert !!!

Der vierte Band der Zauberlandreihe setzt die Geschichte vom "Zauberer der Smaragdenstadt", "Der schlaue Urfin und seine Holzsoldaten" und den "Sieben unterirdischen Königen" fort. Ich hab die Bände schon als Kind in den 80ern mit Begeisterung gelesen. Die Bilder und die fantastischen Geschichten sind einfach toll. Jetzt hab ich die Bücher an meine Patenkinder verschenkt, die die Bücher ebenfalls verschlungen haben.

Habe mir dieses Buch bestellt, da ich es aus meiner Kindheit kannte und die gesamte Reihe liebte und diese nun gern auch meinen Kindern vorlesen mag.Das einzige Manko aus meiner Sicht ist, dass die Illustrationen qualitativ aussehen wie einfache Farbkopien vom Original.Achtung jedoch bei der Taschenbuchausgabe: Hier sind die Illustratrionen dann sogar nur schwarz/weiß.

Ich habe immer zu Weihnachten ein Buch der Reihe bekommen und gleich am selben Abend ausgelesen und über das Jahr bis zum nächsten Buch das Alte zig-mal gelesen,Spannend,kindgerecht und auch als Erinnerung sehr,sehr gut.Danke!

Ich habe dieses Buch erworben und es verschenkt. Es ist gut angekommen. Bisher keinerlei Beanstandungen. Leider kann ich nicht mehr dazu sagen.

Nicht nur in der Kindheit sind die Wolkow-Bücher ein Genuss.Auch als Erwachsener taucht man gern in die Smaragdenstadt ab und als Gegenleistung kommen auch noch schöne Kindheitserinnerungen an den Tag.

Es ist im doch teilweise sehr eigenen Waters-Stil geschrieben.Für Fans definitiv zu empfehlen,äußerst humorvoll. Ohne zu spoilern,die Abwechslung von Fikition und Realität mochte ich persönlich sehr.
